It has been an excellent week of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes from start to finish here at Fenix BJJ Woburn. For some, this was the first week with their new Brazilian jiu-jitsu belts after our graduation, but despite this change the grind has stayed the same. Everyone has been improving on their skills so much on a daily basis, and it is great to see how everyone works together to sharpen their Brazilian jiu-jitsu techniques. This is why we are the IBJJF Boston Open Champions!
In addition to sharpening their BJJ ground skills, everyone has also been working hard on Thursday nights improving on their takedowns. This week Coach Ron and BJJ Purple Belt/Judo Black Belt Alex Sciolla, showed some simple and effective throws. While most of the action in jiu jitsu takes place on the ground, stand up skills cannot be neglected!
The highlight of the week was the promotion of longtime Brazilian jiu-jitsu student Mike Bove to the rank of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt. This is someone who has spent many years dedicating himself not only to the art of Brazilian jiu-jitsu but also to the Fenix Team as a whole. A huge congratulations to this gentle giant. Thank you for helping us all to become better people.
